The Wolf Wilde Family

Wolf Wilde, founder of the business, was classically trained through an apprenticeship in Berlin, Germany. After emigrating to North America in 1959, Wolf quickly learned the language and began working for jewelry manufacturers in New Jersey. He eventually started fine jewelry repair work for Tiffany and Cartier. After the birth of his first child with his wife Janet, the two moved to Oneonta, NY in 1971. Wolf offered his expertise from his home for sixteen years as the family grew. Wolf Wilde Goldsmith first opened as a brick and mortar store in the Clinton Plaza in 1987.

Today the business runs still as a true family operation. Wolf and Janet’s four children Reuben, Karen, Elizabeth and Leslie have taken the reigns and continue to provide exquisite jewelry, custom design and expertise. Reuben began his apprenticeship at the bench in 1996 and went on to become a Graduate Gemologist through the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in June 2010. Sisters Karen, Elizabeth and Leslie round out the business with their eye for design, business management and customer service. The store expanded their space in 2017 and is proud to anchor the Oneonta downtown community. In 2020, Wolf Wilde passed away at home surrounded by his family. His legacy lives on today through the business he built, and the countless treasures he created, worn by our customers every day.
